We had to start Cayson on solids a little earlier than we thought we would. He seemed to be hungry all the time and never seemed full. Of course we started with cereal. It was a little strange to him, but he is a pro now. He is eating a little prunes and seems to enjoy it.

Big snow
It snowed 9 inches on Wednesday. I have never seen that much snow fall in one day. They even canceled school. Chad bought Caelyn her own snow shovel so she could help. Cayson seemed to enjoy getting out and was not too bothered by the cold.
First Snow
we got our first snow last weekend. It was really pretty!! Caelyn and Luchia had fun running around and playing. I don't think Sonny knew how to react to the snow. I believe we got about 3 inches that day.
Ready for solids?
I think Cayson is ready for solids. He is chewing on everything and is very interested when we are eating. Or... maybe he is getting his first tooth. he does like to bite down, which makes breastfeeding extra fun. I don't feel anything in his mouth yet.
Helping decorate the tree
Caelyn helped me decorate the tree. I think she was trying to be very careful, but we still had a few casualties with a couple of ornaments and decorations. She is taking the ornaments off the tree more now than when she was younger.
Sprained ankle
Caelyn sprained her ankle jumping off the bed. We told her many times not to jump on or off the bed, but she had to test the limits. It was hurting her so bad, Chad had to take her to the emergency room. We think she liked the special treatment for a day, but as soon as we told her she couldn't go to school or dance/gymnastics, she started to limp and worked on building her strength.

We are up and running!!
We are up and running now!! Our computer is fixed!!! Everyone is doing well!! Cayson is 5 month old. He is weighing 12.5 pounds and is 25 1/4 inches long. We are trying to start getting ready for the holiday season and coming home for Christmas. It is starting to get cold, but no snow yet. The leaves keep falling from the trees. With the time change the sun goes down starting at 4:30, which is really weird. We are just busy and tired. We are trying to get out and explore our surroundings. There is lots to read and see on the blog!!!
Caelyn's third birthday
Caelyn just celebrated her third birthday. It was different being so far away and with most of our family in Texas. But we did have fun with Michael, Melissa, and Luchia who came over for fun, dinner, and cake!! We didn't have a party for Caelyn, instead we took her to Build a Bear. She had a really good time making her new friend.
Pumpkin Carving
Chad and Caelyn had a good time carving the pumpkin. cayson even participated in the beginning. Caelyn thought scooping out the seeds and touching them was disgusting1!!

Halloween Night
We took Caelyn and Cayson to the mall to trick-or-treat. It was cold and rainy so we were not able to get out into the neighborhood, but we had fun anyways. Caelyn was a witch and Cayson was a skeleton.
Halloween parades and parties
Caleyn and Cayson participated in a neighborhood Halloween parade. At her school Caelyn had a Halloween parade and party.
Leaves
One thing we are not use to is all the leaves. Caelyn likes helping Daddy rack the leaves, but she also likes jumping and playing in them as well. Cayson even tried to get in on the action too.
Ellm Family Farm
We met some friends at one of the local farms. There was a lot of different stuff to do. We jumped on the bouncy pillow, raced toy ducks, climbed on the tractor, rode bikes, slid down slides, rode a train, played in the corn box (not sand box), hid in the corn and hay mazes, and picked out pumpkins.
Dance...
Caelyn is taking gymnastics and dance each week. She seems to really enjoy both and she is pretty good at it. Everyday that I pick her up from school she asks if we are going to dance class. It is a Mommy (and Daddy) and me class. I usually do dance with Caelyn and Chad does gymnastics with her so Cayson can have a snack. Watching all that dancing makes him hungry. Sometimes, Caelyn is not a happy camper to leave.
Aunt Chelsa's visit
Aunt Chelsa came for a visit and Caelyn was very excited. She liked going to the pumpkin patch, apple picking, watching movies and just hanging out with Aunt Chelsa.

Apple picking
It is already starting to feel like fall up here. The leaves are starting to change and it is starting to get a little cooler. We decided to take Caelyn and Cayson apple picking. This was the first time for all of us to experience this and we all had a lot of fun. The apples are huge!!
Caelyn's first day of Preschool
Caelyn has started preschool. I started work on the same day so Daddy got to take Caelyn to her new school for the first time. She did really well. She was a little nervous at first, but once she saw the yellow bus outside the school she was fine. She went with her teacher and walked over to play with the other kids right away. She told Daddy bye, waved and off she went. At the end of the day when we went to pick her up, we could tell she had a good time. She had wood chips from the playground all in her hair.
Trip to New Jersey
Cayson's first out of town trip was to New Jersey with Aunt Rosie and Uncle Jim. We stayed with cousin Andrea, Auntie Pat and Chelsea. We has a lot of fun and got to meet and hang out with family!!!
Soccer tots
Caelyn has started playing soccer, well learning the skills to prepare her for soccer. She is having a blast running around with Daddy every Saturday!!
Caelyn and Luchia playing in the sprinkler
Caelyn and Luchia needed time to cool off and had fun playing in the sprinkler.
Bath time
Sometimes it is hard to bathe two kids almost every night. So we tried giving Caelyn and Casyon a bath together. Caelyn wants to be so helpful and give her brother a bath.

What is going on with us
Nothing much is going on. We are still trying to get use to two kids. Caelyn is adjusting well to her little brother. She sometimes has a difficult time understanding that Cayson is smaller than her and can't do the things she wants him to. She loves to hug and kiss him. She is going to daycare during the day. She really likes it. Lately she does not want to leave and wants to go on weekends. She really likes being around and playing with other children. She has been going to the movies each week with her daycare. They have free movies for kids each week. She has seen Igor, Robots, Firehouse Dog, Flicka, Nim's Island, and Charlotte's Web. She really enjoys going to the movies and eating "pocorn". Caelyn will be starting preschool next month. She was really excited about picking out her new "packpack" with princesses on it. She has not put it down since.
Cayson is 2 months old and weighs 9.5 pounds. He is still eating all the time, but he is starting to have a better sleep schedule and can go longer stretches at night. He is smiling and cooing alot. And his eyes are still as blue as the sky :):)
Chad's test lab at work is finally up and running and hopefuly soon he will be taking his sabbatical and writing his book chapter.
I am still looking for a job, but nothing yet. I am relaxing and trying to get out and meet people and most importantly enjoying my time with Caelyn and Cayson.

Breastfeeding Support Group
Casyon and I have joined a breastfeeding support group as a way to meet other moms and babies. We have made some really good friends. Cayson seems to have fun seeing others his same size. This week is World Breastfeeding Week.
Hanging out on the mat with Caelyn
Caelyn loves hanging out with Cayson. She likes to do what he is doing.
African American Family Day 2009
We were able to participate in African American Family Day this year with Michael, Melissa, and Luchia. We had alot of fun. There was music, face painting, games for the kids, pony rides, and more.

Choo Choo Soul
Caelyn and Cayson went to their first concert today as apart of GE's Kids Day. It was actually alot of fun for the whole family. Choo Choo Soul from the Disney channel was there!! Choo Choo Soul is Caelyn's favorite group. She knows all the songs and the dance moves. I actually know all the songs too and find myself singing them even when I am not in the car. I highly recommend the CD. Caelyn was so happy! She was singing and dancing with Genevieve and DC. She was very happy to be able to hug and take a picture with them. She cried when we left.
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
Caelyn went to her first baseball game with Daddy and Grandpa. She had a good time and danced to the music!!

Welcome home Cayson
We made it home and we are adjusting to our new family of four. Caelyn is trying to be helpful. She wants to help burp him and give us wipes when we change his diaper. She helped give him his first bath. keeps reminding us that "He is not a toy. Touch him gently!"

Introducing Cayson Jeryn Young
Yesterday we had a very unexpected visit from the stork. I went to the doctor Thursday for a regular appointment. No news. I had not dilated or anything. Well things can change fast. I started feeling bad Thursday night and went to bed early. I woke up with cramps for a couple of hours, but was able to at one point fall asleep. Nothing had changed Friday morning and had gotten worse. I called my doctor and they sent me to the hospital. The contractions got really bad on the way to the hospital. When we got there I had dilated 1 centimeter and within 2 hours I was a little over 5 cms. We decided to go ahead and to have a vaginal birth since things were progressing fast. So, I had the epidural, but the baby's heart rate dropped fast. They rushed me back to do an emergency C-section. It was actually kinda scary. There were so many people in there and Chad did not go back with me. They ended up having to knock me out. Both me and the baby are fine. We named him Cayson Jeryn Young. He was 6 pounds, 15.6 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. Cayson was born at 12:13 pm. He is really cute and tiny!! Caelyn came to see him and was really excited. She wants to hold him and said he looks like a rooster with his hat on. We are going home tomorrow.

Caelyn in her big girl bed
When we moved into the house we transitioned Caelyn into a "big girl" bed. It helped with potty training, which she is doing really well. She was very excited about the "moobers", not movers, setting up her bed. So far she has been doing really well. She loves her Ariel bed spread and sheets. We were afraid that she would get up in the middle of the night and roam around, but we told her not to get up and to call for us if she needs anything and she has done that, at least for now. But, last night I think I caught her out of bed playing with her toys. She does sleep a little crazy at times.

3-D ultra sound
No phone calls for Caelyn
As everyone knows, we are keeping the Baby's name a secret. We think we have a first name, but are still working on deciding a middle name. Caelyn has been practicing her brother's name. Due to recent events, I will not name any names to protect the guilty (just kidding), Caelyn will only take calls by speaker phone :):). Caelyn has been saying her brother's name, but it might be hard for others to understand her unless you are here or know what she is saying. Caelyn can easily be bribed into saying anything right now, especially for some lick-a lish (licorice), chocolate, or Popsicle. :):)Everyone will know the baby's name next Thursday or the way I am feeling sooner. We are just having a little fun, but Caelyn is getting better and better about saying the name.
The new house
Here are some pictures of the new house under construction. We had the walls painted, the hardwood floors refinished, and the basement redone.
Zilker Park and Easter
Granny Dee and I took Caelyn to Zilker Park to play. Caelyn loves going to the park. Last time Caelyn was at Zilker Park she was not feeling good, but this time, she had a great time. It was also fun to be back around for Easter too. Caelyn got to go to the Kyle Eggtravaganza, dye eggs, and hunted eggs several times.

Trip back to Texas
It was really nice to have been able to go back to Texas. We were happy about the warm weather and seeing family and friends.

Baby names
We asked Caelyn yesterday if she liked the name *** for her baby brother. She said, "No, Brandon". We thought that was pretty cute. I guess Caelyn has her own ideas for baby names.

New plates
Well I think that it is official that we are New Yorkers. We turned in our Texas Driver's, License Plates, and Registration and Inspection stickers. We are a little sad (Sniff sniff). But we still bleed Burnt Orange.

What am I?
This video is a reenactment of what happened a little while ago. Chad and I have been contemplating opening the envelope for a while. Everyday we would pick it up, look at it, talk about the pros and cons of opening it, and then decide not to. We have been leaving it out on the end table, where we thought it was safe. Well, it wasn't. To entertain Caelyn, I let her open the junk mail, play with it and then I throw it away. Well, I guess Caelyn thought the envelope was junk mail and one night decided to open it. It was half open before we realized what she had done. So I guess Caelyn got tired of waiting and decided to open the envelope herself.
To view, hit the play arrow and then after it loads, hit the small arrow to the right.

Planting Sunflowers
Luchia gave Caelyn a sunflower to remind us of the warm weather that Texas has right now. Caelyn and I prepared the soil and got ready to plant the seeds. Of course Caelyn had to sample the soil to make sure it was nutritious.
Ultrasound
We took Caelyn to the ultrasound so she could see her future brother or sister. Of course she was more interested in running around and playing with the machines in the room. At one point she wanted to lay next to me on the table, so she got ultrasound goo all over her. She saw what the sex of the baby is but she is pretty tight lipped. After I got off the table she had to work the controls and lay up on table and pretend it was her turn.
Bowling party
Caelyn was invited to her cousin Luchia's birthday party. It was a bowling party and we did not know what to expect because Caelyn would probably be one of the youngest children and would not be able to bowl. But she did and she had a really good time.
Snow days
We did not have too may opportunities to play in or take too many pictures in the snow this year, but we will have a lot more next year.

It is official...
No we don't know the sex of the baby :). Caelyn has finally told us she wants a sister and not a brother.:):)

Doctors appointment
We met our new doctor today. We will go back for an ultrasound next week so maybe we will find out the sex of the baby :):) Caelyn wanted to explore every inch of the office, especially the trash and bio hazardous chemicals box. I had a pelvic exam and I think Caelyn was both inquisitive and maybe a little scared for me all at the same time. She kept telling the doctor, "Me turn". So she got some rubber gloves and a paper drape. She even gave me an exam when we got home. Caelyn also thought the stirrup covers were oven mitts :):). Chad and I got a kick out of that.
A day at the musuem
Caelyn got to spend some time with her cousin, Luchia, at the museum. They had a good time looking at the exhibits and riding the carousel. Of course Caelyn was Caelyn and often ran around the museum being silly. Caleyn followed Luchia everywhere she went :):) Caelyn wanted to ride the carousel over and over. Mommy rode it once, but started to get a little too dizzy so Caelyn got to ride the different ponies with Daddy.
Tutu
Caelyn and I have to find ways to occupy our time together during the day. Caelyn loves to dress up in her tutu's. She has three of them and is constantly switching them out. She has it all the tiara, shoes with feathers, butterfly wings, and several different wands to choose from. At times, she insists that I put one on too and even gets mad that they will not fit over my stomach.

My salad
Last night I was eating a salad and Caelyn asked me if I was eating leaves. :):) Of course we had to explain to her not to ever eat leaves. Today we went to look at houses and there was a plant and Caelyn told me not to eat the leaves :):)

It is so cold
It is really cold here. I really don't remember being this cold over a period of time. It is so cold we really can't get out and do anything. When we go outside, Caleyn walks stiff legged. She needs a body suit. I already want it to warm up to spring-like weather and we haven't even been here an entire winter. We have warm coats, but that does not help below the waist. Somebody please send us warm weather.
Change in background
I had to change the blog up a little bit. I know it looks very "girl". That does not mean anything. We still don't know the sex of the baby, although we believe the baby is a girl. We are looking for unique girl names. We have a possible boy name, but nothing definite. But no such luck on a girl name. Any suggestions? :):)

Baby Young II

Ok I have failed to mention that we are expecting another baby in June. I think because everything has been so crazy with the move, I have not mentioned it. I am almost 22 weeks along, half way through. I think everyone knows about it. I feel great, but I am starting to feel very tired being at home with Caelyn all day. She is very active. She exhausts me by noon. I am going to get her out more next week. It is just so cold here to do anything. We have been outside a couple of times to play. But I think she misses her neighborhood and daycare friends. Here is a picture our gummy bear from the sonogram at three months. I have to get the 5 month picture scanned onto my memory stick. The baby is growing great. He/she is a little big in size, but that is a good thing. We don't know the sex, although we did have the technician take a picture and seal it in an envelope. So we know, but we don't know. We are hoping for a boy :):) We will see. It is a done deal. Caelyn sometimes walks around the apartment telling me she has a baby in her tummy too.:):)
Shoveling snow
Why do they shovel and move snow before 6 in the morning here? It is so loud it woke up both Chad and I. Thank God it did not wake up Caelyn.
Sitting in the moving truck
Caelyn really wanted to sit in the moving truck, even before we left. So she got to sit in the truck with her Daddy and she even blew the horn several times.

Our first week in Albany
Our first week in Albany has been exciting to say the least. We are trying to find our way around. It is a lot like Austin except cold and much better highways. We found Walmart and the grocery store. I think we have gone to Walmart almost everyday for something. At first it felt like we were on vacation staying in a timeshare, but then our stuff came on Saturday. It started to sink in that we are here for good. Caelyn asks for family, her neighborhood friends and her daycare teacher and friends everyday. I think that has been the hardest part. It makes us sad to tell her we won't see them today. We have checked out a new doctor for Caelyn and visited two places that could be daycares. It is not the same as being in Kyle. Caelyn got a bad stomach bug Sunday and we ended up in the emergency room because she could not keep anything down and was possibly getting dehydrated. She is fine. :):) Then Monday the carbon monoxide alarm went off and kept going off. I had to call the fire department. The fire truck, two firemen in SUVs, the police, and the ambulance came out. It was embarrassing. There was a trace of carbon monoxide in the apartment, but probably because someone near us started their car in the garage and the wind blew it back in. we will see what happens this week.
Caelyn in the snow and ice
As soon as we landed Caelyn want to play in the snow and ice. Here are some pictures from her first time playing in the snow and ice.
On the airplane
Caelyn did really well on the airplane. She of course had to explore the plane as soon as she got on. She read over the safety instructions and decided she would not be the best candidate in the case of an emergency. She had to change seats :):). Caelyn fell asleep shortly after take off, but woke up before we landed and ate breakfast. In the airport she ran all over the place, typical Caelyn. Caelyn talked to any and everybody. I don't think we have stranger danger yet. Caelyn as also not affected by turbulence. She just laughed and smiled.
At the airport
It was great to have family come to the airport to see us off. It was sad to leave. Caelyn started crying which made it hard for all of us.
Cupid's Chase 2009
The Cupid's Chase is always a fun event. We hate hate that will won't be able to do it for a while. :(
Caelyn hanging with her daycare friends
Caelyn will miss going to Ms. Tida's house and all of the friends she made there. She had a good time going there everyday and playing with the other children. She asks about going to Ms. Tida's house everyday.
Young family going away
Many family and friends passed by our informal going a way gathering at the house.
MLK March
Caelyn and I participated in the Martin Luther King Jr. March in San Marcos with Sorors from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc..

Potty Training
We are trying to tackle potty training. We really believe Caelyn is ready. She tells us when she needs a diaper change. However, she is resistant to sitting on potty. We think she might be scared. She does not want to sit there for long and I think it is because she knows we don't sit there for long. She has pee peed once a daycare, once at home, and once at each of her grandparents houses. But is this is only after letting her go with out a diaper for at least an hour and constantly staying on her about going back to the potty. But we can tell when she needs to go. She cries, constantly wants to get up, and begs for a diaper. We will get there. Hopefully sooner, rather than later.
Caelyn in her wagon
Caelyn got a wagon for Christmas. She is obsessed with riding in the wagon. She does not care what the weather is like. We have walked with watering eyes, a nose running like a faucet and a box of Kleenex.
Trail of Lights
We finally got to go to the Trail of Lights with Caelyn this year. She had a good time and of course we had to ride the train. Caelyn tried to copy everyone else and spin under the big Christmas tree. She fell down a couple of times and just laughed and laughed.
Schlitterbaun Holiday Outing
We went to Schlitterbaun for holiday fun. We all had a good time with family and Caelyn enjoyed seeing the lights.
San Diego
Chad and I went to San Diego for a conference he had. It was really pretty there and the weather was nice.
